There are many styles of martial arts that you can learn like, Aikido,  Bando, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Capoeira, Hapkido, Wing Chun, Judo, Karate, Systema, Pencak Silat, Kickboxing,  Kendo,  Kenjutsu, Krav Maga, Kung Fu,  Ninjitsu,  Sambo, Taekwondo, Tai Chi Chuan and Wrestling.

Here at Combat Defence Systems we teach Jeet Kune Do – Reality based self defence.

So what is Jeet Kune Do?

JKD is a non traditional art and teaches the practitioner to adapt to any given situation or range of combat. Ranges of combat include, punching, kicking, trapping and grappling. Students are taught to flow seamlessly from one range to the next utilising techniques from many different martial arts with its aim to use whatever is useful, direct, effective and efficient. It is an art without limitation and forever evolving. Some of the martial arts it draws from are Wing Chun, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Shoot Wrestling, Boxing, Muay Thai, Savate, Kali/Escrima and Silat just to name a few.


COMBAT –  a fight, struggle, or controversy, between two persons, teams or ideas.

DEFENCE – the act of defending someone or something against attack or injury.

SYSTEMS – a procedure or process for obtaining an objective.

It is vital that when you are considering what martial art to choose or which is the best for you that you ask yourself these questions.

Will I be able to protect myself/family with my martial art skills if a confronting situation arises?

Could I defend myself if confronted with a weapon?

Could I diffuse a situation from becoming violent?
