At Combat Defence Systems, we employ a holistic approach to self-defence and teach what we believe to be reality based self-defence.
Our self-defence classes consist of Bruce Lee’s Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do & Kali / Silat, the Filipino and Indonesian Martial Arts.
JKD is a non-traditional art and teaches the practitioner to adapt to any given situation or range of combat. Ranges of combat include, punching, kicking, trapping and grappling. Students are taught the necessary skills to flow seamlessly from one range to the next utilising techniques from many different martial arts with its aim to use whatever is useful, direct, effective and efficient. It is an art without limitation and forever evolving. It draws from over 26 martial arts including Wing Chun, Boxing, Muay Thai, Savate, Kali/Escrima/Arnis, Silat, Southern Kung fu & Northern Kung fu just to name a few.
Kali / Silat are weapons based arts, which translate into the same empty hand movement. The benefit being that there is very little difference when defending against a variety of weapons or empty hands with only minor adjustments required.
These arts are not only efficient in their teaching methods but also devastatingly effective. Hence, they are widely used as the preferred self-defence method to train law enforcement agencies and the military alike.
With combining the concepts and philosophies of JKD, the diverse and complete system of Kali and Silat, these classes offer the ultimate in the development of a self-defence skill set.
